1 Reason to Believe #7 Acts (3:11-26)

2 Introduction The failure of linking the Good News with healing by the Third Wave of the Pentecostal tradition

3 First Wave – Pentecostal Church (AOG)
Second Wave – Charismatic Church Third Wave – Signs and wonders Word of Faith (Prosperity Gospel) Return to the historic faith (Alpha Course)

4 The failure of not linking Good News with healing in the historic tradition

5 Jesus and disciples clearly presented the Good News together with healing
The resurrection is about the healing of body and soul, that is the hope we present, not a bodiless salvation God continues to heal miraculously in our midst

6 5 Observations concerning the Good News that Heals

7 Peter utilizes the healing of the lame man to explain the Good News of Jesus
11 While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus.

8 There was no mass offer of miraculous healing
Miraculous healing was not a promise to be claimed

9 The Good News ties pain and death to sin, and does not shy away from declaring the need for repentance from sin

10 You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.

11 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.

12 Repentance  Forgiveness of sin  Deliverance from sin which brings pain and death

13 The Good News when received will produce “times of refreshing” and God “may send the Messiah – even Jesus.”

14 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.
