Provide an organized venue within the AAOS to Engage, Educate, and Represent Orthopaedic residents while developing Future AAOS Fellows and Leaders.

7 2016 Goals Education Committee Health Policy Committee
Improve Education Committee communications. Improve pre-residency education for incoming interns. Improve resident access to surgical courses Improve fellowship search process & establish a buddy mentorship program. Improve resident awareness of loan repayment options. Improve the resident bowl. Discuss the model residency program concept. Develop a health policy webinar. Develop a series of articles for publication. Increase resident PAC participation. Review the Washington Health Policy Fellows program goals and incorporate into the Resident Assembly, where applicable.

8 2016 Goals Practice Management Committee Technology Committee
Survey PGY4 and PGY5 residents on their experience finding a job/negotiating a contract – what they would like to learn more about. Hosting a webinar on ways to reduce student loan debt Explore new and better ways for AAOS to engage residents with the new AAOS.org web site Actively involved in the pilot study for the AAOS Community Portal which will be open to all Resident Assembly delegates and Committee members. Work jointly with the Education Committee to develop a potential resource guide of digital content that is most useful to residents in different stages of their residency as well as the most appropriate ways to deliver this content to the target audiences.

9 2016 Goals Research Committee
Recruit residents to join the Research Committee. Encourage involvement of members within the committee. Host two additional webinars – topics to be determined. Publish two AAOS Now articles – “Performing Research as Resident: Challenges and Opportunities” and “Research during Residency: Executing Now with an Eye towards Career Development”. Develop and disseminate survey to residents to residents and residency directors to assess the current status of research, what residency programs directors are doing well and why. Begin development of resident research toolkit.
