2 GENESIS Established by Government of India for conducting training & research in Tribal & Community Development. named as Tribal Orientation & Study Centre (TO&SC) under Govt. of Odisha. renamed as the State Training Institute of Community Dev. (STICD). 1984 – again renamed as the State Institute for Rural Development (SIRD) in the pattern of NIRD Onwards known as the State Institute for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR) & acts as Nodal Institute of the State for all types of Training & Research Programmes relating to PR & RD.

5 OUR INITIATIVES Institutionalizing an effective training system to produce desired changes in the process & quality of governance at all levels of PRI Impart need based & effective training for different stake holders of Panchayati Raj Dept. by utilizing the available training resources with SIRD&PR within a given time frame Basic training to all elected PRI Representatives with 100% coverage through a mandatory functional module of 3 days duration within six months after assuming their office.

Implementing Multi Location (148), Multi Module & Multi Partnership (57CPOs, 2 ETCs& 4 DPRCs ) in PPP mode for taking forward Capacity Building activities of MoRD and MoPR programs. Developed and utilizing standardized training modules, manuals and resource materials tailored to the specific needs of different programs of PR and RD. Utilizing the services of a pool of 386 well trained resource persons along with 445 Govt. District level Trainers for (GPDP) capacity building of PRIs and functionaries
