2 What is an Oxymoron? An oxymoron is a figure of speech in which contradictory terms appear in conjunction with one another. (Example: Jumbo shrimp)

3 Origin of the word: mid 17th cent.: from Greek oxumōron, neuter (used as a noun) of oxumōros ‘pointedly foolish,’ from oxus ‘sharp’ + mōros ‘foolish

4 Examples of oxymorons:
Jumbo Shrimp Accidentally on Purpose A Fine Mess ‘A small loan of a million dollars’ –Donald Trump Awfully Nice Pretty Ugly
