2 Color plays an important part in our world
Color plays an important part in our world. It can tell us anything from what is safe and what is not, to what wires to connect to a TV and were to connect them to. Colors are just different frequencies of the same energy, that are reflected back from an object.

3 Human Eye When we see objects it is because light has entered the eye and focused on the retina. The retina is the back lining of the eye, and is made up of two types of cells: Rods and Cones Rods=low light conditions , black, white, browns, some blues and greens. Cones= color, three types: red, green, and blue

4 Why do we see the colors we see?
We already know that color is the frequency reflected by an object. These reflections are used to activate the cones. Depending on how the cones respond you see different colors.

5 Colors vs Pigments In science (especially physics) color refers to a wavelength of light. The primary colors of light are : Red, Green, Blue A pigment is a colored material that is used to change the color of other substances. Ex: Paint The primary pigments are : Magenta, Cyan, and Yellow

6 Color Blindness It is the inability to perceive a difference between two or more colors. This occurs because one or more type of cone is not working correctly. The most commonly diagnosed is Red-Green color blindness This is a sex linked disorder carried on the X-chromosome. Roughly 8% of men and less than 1% of women have some form of color blindness.
