1 God of all Creation, You have constantly poured out your Spirit upon our Diocese and kindled here a light which has spread throughout the world. Lord Jesus, you gathered disciples to yourself to learn from you and to model their lives on you. Your Holy Spirit empowered them to continue your work in the world. Come upon us, Holy Spirit, deepen the faith you invite us to share and inspire us to become faithful witnesses. As we begin to develop our partnerships, help each one of us to sue the gifts you give us to nurture one another, to serve the world and to live in harmony with the whole of creation. All of this we ask in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

2 What are the conditions needed to nurture growth?
How might this be symbolic for our partnerships?

3 Transitions In 3 places at once?
Ending: Letting go and making space for what is coming. Saying good-bye to the way things used to be. Neutral Zone: Things are in flux, sometimes discomforting, anxiety provoking but its more than a time of waiting- it can invite exploration, innovation, discovering and learning. New Beginning: New people, new roles, new practices are put in place.

4 Early Reactions to change:
Resistance- this can’t be happening to us. It won’t work Pragmatic- well what will we do? let’s plan our way out of this. Slowing things down or disappearing!

5 What are we letting go of?

6 What might we gain?

7 Dr William Bridges- Managing Change
Secure your purpose- Why? Hold up a picture of what might be. Develop a plan Provide parts to play

8 Ground rules for our time together:
Participate speaking openly and honestly. Listen to understand not just respond. Monitor your air time. Stay focused on the task. No side conversations. Be open to new ways of thinking. Seek common ground.

9 Our Hearts were Burning within us. Bishops Conference USA
“We are entering a period of new vitality for the Church, a period in which Catholic Laity will play a pivotal leadership role in fulfilling the Christian Mission of evangelising and transforming society” Our Hearts were Burning within us. Bishops Conference USA

10 Knowing our Why:

11 James Mallon P.23 Divine Renovation
“We must rediscover our identity and place the heart of the Lord’s mandate for his Church at the heart of everything we do, so that at the heart of every parish there will be a community of growing, maturing believers who are committed to a lifelong process of disciplined learning, who are discovering their God-given talents, who are prepared to serve and eventually to become apostles.” James Mallon P.23 Divine Renovation We must remember and stay fixed on our primary purpose as Church

12 “The more organisations and people who learn to start with WHY, the more people there will be who wake up being fulfilled by the work they do.” Simon Sineck The ability to put a WHY into words provides the emotional context for decisions. When you know your WHY, the highest level of confidence you can offer is: I know its right. When you know the decision is right, not only does it feel right, but you can also rationalize it and easily put it into words

13 The Great Commission “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” MT 28:16-20.

14 Recalling our Discipleship:
Greek for disciple is mathetes- verb manthanein meaning “to learn” (think of the term math) To be a disciple is to be a learner. To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to be engaged in a life-long process of learning how to be more Christ like.

15 Being a Disciple

16 What are your thoughts and reactions so far?
Talk point 1: What are your thoughts and reactions so far?

17 Why do Disciples need Community?
Talk point 2: Why do Disciples need Community?

18 Why do we exist as Church? Why are we gathering as a Partnership?
Summary: Talk point 3 Why do we exist as Church? Why are we gathering as a Partnership?

19 Talk point 4: Formulating a Partnership Mission statement
Knowing your Why Why the partnership exists is literally the vision of a future that does not yet exist. The mission statement is a description of the route, the guiding principles – Try and stick to a maximum of 5 values expressed as verbs. It needs to be able to be referred to frequently in the future. Talk point 4: Formulating a Partnership Mission statement

20 Accepting the responsibility to encourage others to grow in responsibility themselves
Key principle:

21 Healthy Responses: Provide frequent communication using simple, straight forward messages. Celebrate the opportunities ahead. Acknowledge the challenges. Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not; See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? Isaiah 43:18-19

22 Launching new beginnings:
Commit to the journey. Be consistent with your why Ensure that life goes on Ritualise the new beginning Celebrate the milestone I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me. John 15:5

23 HOW do we intend to create that future?
‘HOW we do things manifests in the systems and processes within an organisation and the culture’

24 What we will offer?
