5 Current Positives Guaranteed Regular Season District Games
2. Its What We Know

6 Current Negatives Safety Issues
16 Teams Made 2015 Playoffs With a LOSING Record 35 Teams Missed 2015 Playoffs with WINNING record LITTLE excitement in Week 11 Districts NOT Equal due to Travel More & More Independents Over 50% of the 2015 Playoff games had over a 21 point differential

7 Goals of a New System 1. Allow schools to create a schedule that best fits their athletes and school goals. 2. Create a more exciting and competitive playoff format for players, fans, coaches and schools by using a seeding system. 3. Create a system that rewards the best teams with a playoff bid by taking into account their entire season “body of work.”

8 We Surveyed Members… 3 Options:
1. Eliminate Districts: Teams control their own schedule, playoffs would be seeded based on a point system 2. Keep Districts: Take District Champions as Automatic Playoff Qualifiers and take the next best in that region as wildcards. Seed the playoffs 3. Keep the current structure

9 70% Survey Says… Class 1A – 4A = 76% Class 5A - 8A = 70%
Want a new playoff format and move away from our current system Class 1A – 4A = 76% Class 5A - 8A = 70%

10 Survey Says… Class 1A – 4A: Class 5A – 8 A:
Want no district required contests due to safety issues and desire to choose a schedule that best fits their athletes. Class 5A – 8 A: Want to Maintain District Structure but overwhelmingly want a wildcard and seeding system for the playoffs

11 Class 1A-4A No Region Schedule Required
Schools would control Their OWN Schedule Four Regions in Each Class Four Per Region Make Playoffs 8 game Minimum to earn a playoff spot Concerned About Schedule? MOVE UP TO CLASS 5A-8A Create Conferences within your region Create your own districts

12 After Surveying Our Independents…
30+ Have said they would rejoin State Series with this change

16 Understanding the System
Must play eight games Your team earns points based on wins and losses and your opponents wins and losses Points Games Played = NO Penalization For Missed Games Solution for teams trying to work the system by canceling a game at the last minute Solution for games canceled due to weather, etc… Solution to those who choose not to schedule 10 games

17 Category 1 Your opponent has won more than 80% of their games If your opponents record is: 8-2 9-0 If you Win you get 50 points If you lose you get 35 points Your opponent has won at least 60% of their games but no more than 79% 7-3 6-4 7-2 6-3 If you Win you get 45 points If you lose you get 30 points Category 3 Your opponent has won at least 40% of their games but no more than 59% 5-5 4-6 If you Win you get 40 points If you lose you get 25 points Category 4 Your opponent has won less than 39% of their games If you Win you get 35 points If you lose you get 20 points How You Earn Points If your opponent only plays nine games it will not penalize your team. Base it on the percentages. Example: 7-2 won 77% of their games- you would get Category two points
