2. Training Objectives: Define cultural competence;
Describe the importance of providing culturally competent care in your medical/health care practice;
Complete at least 2 online trainings; and
Apply skills and knowledge learned from the webinars into your daily patient care.

3. Definitions:
Cultural Competence: Cultural competence is the ongoing capacity of healthcare systems, organizations, and professionals to provide diverse patient populations high-quality care that is safe, patient and family centered, evidence based, and equitable. Cultural competence is an important factor in closing the disparity gap in healthcare that exists in the United States National Standards on Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Healthcare: The CLAS standards provide consistent definitions of culturally and linguistically appropriate services in healthcare and offer a framework for the organization and implementation of services Office of Health Equity (OHE): State level (SCOHE) and national level offices (OHE) that focus on improving and protecting the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of health policies and programs that will eliminate health disparities

4. Participant Instructions:
Contracted medical practices are required to complete the following training courses as outlined in your SC PHASE contract
At a minimum, the primary SC PHASE contact at each medical practice is required to complete the online trainings. DHEC encourages all medical practice staff that have contact with patients also complete the trainings
Allow at least minutes to view each training (webinar, PowerPoint slides) and complete any case studies or quizzes. Each training format differs, so please be aware that you may not be able to start and stop some of the trainings once you have started them

5. Participant Instructions:
The required trainings and recorded videos are categorized according to profession (the optional trainings are not categorized). Each individual will complete 1 required training from the list of resources provided on the next slide and 1 optional training from the list of resources provided on the following slide (completion of 2 trainings total per medical practice staff). You are more than welcome to complete all trainings but that is not required

Evidence of completion to submit to your SC PHASE Region Clinical Coordinator will include the following (if a certificate is unavailable at the end of the training). Submit this for every webinar or PowerPoint you complete:
Name of training
Name of staff person that completed the training
Date of completion of training
Describe 3 ways you will integrate or implement skills and knowledge learned from the webinar(s) into your day-to- day practice. Provide concrete steps or a thorough description
