9  Indicator The governing body ensures that the leadership at all levels has the autonomy to meet goals for achievement and instruction and to manage day-to-day operations effectively. BOE wants to understand the operations and may ask questions but they do not dictate day to day management of the system/schools. Small Town/Public Understanding / BOE has to have a level understanding to be able to answer Public questions that are general in nature

14  Indicator The system's curriculum provides equitable and challenging learning experiences that ensure all students have sufficient opportunities to develop learning, thinking, and life skills that lead to success at the next level. 16 Indicator Teachers throughout the district engage students in their learning through instructional strategies that ensure achievement of learning expectations. Common Planning: MCES & MCMS…..very hard to accomplish at MCHS but this allows for sharing of strategies that work with shared children

17  Indicator System and school leaders monitor and support the improvement of instructional practices of teachers to ensure student success. Principals are given the flexibility to focus on certain instructional strategies over others if they deem necessary for their school Professional Development is available through: RESA and online learning modules (Safe Schools, FIP [Formative Instructional Practices Professional Learning]) Instructional Focus Walk Throughs

18  Indicator The system operates as a collaborative learning organization through structures that support improved instruction and student learning at all levels. 20 Indicator Mentoring, coaching, and induction programs support instructional improvement consistent with the system's values and beliefs about teaching and learning. New Teacher’s (staff) are Mentored by veteran teachers (staff) Even those that are moved to new grade levels are supported

21  Indicator The system and all of its schools engage families in meaningful ways in their children's education and keep them informed of their children's learning progress.  Indicator The system designs and evaluates structures in all schools whereby each student is well known by at least one adult advocate in the student's school who supports that student's educational experience. This has been discussed in Superintendent meeting and at the middle school level leadership team

23 Indicator Grading and reporting are based on clearly defined criteria that represent the attainment of content knowledge and skills and are consistent across grade levels and courses. Promotion / Retention Grading has been discussed at Superintendent Meetings and Leadership Principals have addressed it through written commuication with their teachers

24  Indicator 3.11 - All staff members participate in a continuous program of professional learning.
In this profession…everyday is a learning day!!  Most staff development is done in the Summer Time Instructional Time is valuable and we try to protect it Online Modules as mention before help with professional learning during the year Mini professional development is done during planning times (ex: SLDS training: SMARTboard training)

25  Indicator The system and its schools provide and coordinate learning support services to meet the unique learning needs of students. Schedules play a major part in this Move on When Ready (Bainbridge State College) Support Services for Students (Speech, ASPIRE, Special Education, Intervention, OT Services, Gifted)

26 Standard 5: Using Results for Continuous Improvement
