1 ADJECTIVES THAT COMPARE
They compare two or more nouns.

2 Comparative Form Compares only 2 things or people.

3 One syllable words... Form the comparative by adding -er.

4 Two or more syllables... Form the comparative by using more before the adjective.

5 Examples Texas is larger than Florida.
Large is one syllable. Add -er to the end. Is Hawaii more beautiful than Delaware? Beautiful is 3 syllables. Use more in front.

6 Superlative Form Compares more than two things or people.

7 One syllable adjectives..
Form the superlative by adding -est to the end of the adjective.

8 Two or more syllables... Form the superlative by using most before the adjective.

9 Examples What is the poorest country in the world?
Poor is one syllable. Add -er to the end. George is the most curious of all monkeys. Curious is 3 syllables. Use most in front.

10 WARNING! Do NOT use more or most in front of adjectives already in the comparative or superlative form!
