18 First Journey Holy Spirit called them to set out
Barnabas was listed first Acts 13:4–14:26 Leaves for Cyprus from Seleucia Proclaimed the word of God in Salamis Barnabas and Paul first visited Barnabas’s home region of Cyprus before sailing to the southern region of Asia Minor. When they reached Perga in Pamphylia, John Mark left the group and returned to Jerusalem. Making their way to Antioch (in Pisidia), Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe, Paul and Barnabas were driven out of each city by jealous Jewish religious leaders. Later they returned by the same route, strengthening the new churches as they went. From Attalia they set sail for their home in Antioch of Syria. Barnabas’ mission journey. Made their way across Cyprus preaching in the synagogues They arrived at Paphos; met a magician, false prophet called Bar-Jesus Sergius Paulus, Roman magistrate of the island summoned Paul and Barnabas. He wanted to hear about Jesus. A man called Elymas(Bar-Jesus) worked against them. Paul spoke against the man and the sorcerer became blind

21 Iconium “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4) Great number of Jews and Greeks believed “But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.” Acts 14:2 Paul and Barnabas go on to Iconium where they spend "a long time" until they are nearly stoned (Acts 13:51−14:5)

22 Lystra Miracle of the crippled man (Acts 14:8)
Were thought to be Zeus and Hermes

23 Paul stops the worship of false gods
“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. 16 In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways. 17 Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.” Acts 14:15-17

25 Paul is stoned “19 But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. 20 But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city, and on the next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.” Acts 14:19-21

26 Back to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch
“…they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, 22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. 23 And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.” (Acts 14:21b-32) Travels to Derbe to preach the gospel Returns back through Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch

27 Returning to Antioch Paul and Barnabas return to Antioch (Acts 14:26)
Report to the church of their activities and the things God had done (Acts 14:26-28) Peter visits Antioch and eats with Gentiles (Galatians 2:11-12) Certain men from the church at Jerusalem are sent to Antioch by James to check things out (Galatians 2:12) Peter stops eating with Gentiles and Barnabas is carried away by his hypocrisy (Galatians 2:12-13)

28 Paul Opposes Peter 11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. 13 And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?” (Galatians 2:11-14)
