1 VIP: Data Management Team
By Chan Weng Yan, Hanyang Liu Dr. Line Pouchard, Dr. Yung-Hsiang Lu MOTIVATION UNCONVENTIONAL METADATA METADATA ENCODING CAM2 currently has access to more than 100k cameras producing a substantial amount of data that needs to be managed and processed for further use. Cameras Worldwide Cameras in the US Our goal is to construct a suitable infrastructure and systematic procedures for data curation and distribution to handle massive amount of data. Apart from the conventional image metadata like time of creation, dimensions, camera model, etc., we are adding other metadata such as : geographical coordinates, projections (i.e. objects in the image), direction of camera, landscape, etc. Incorporating Dublin Core standard metadata element set to design a metadata schema encoded using XML for existing metadata. Sample encode information with Dublin Core. INFRASTRUCTURE Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park Grand Canyon National Park Analyzing various policies involving copyrights, data sharing, user restrictions, technical instructions, etc. to ensure proper compliance of agreements proposed by our data providers. Examining the Big Data life cycle in order to construct our own adaption of data curation infrastructure. Annotated CAM2 images in compliance with existing metadata standards adds tremendous value and is crucial for use in conducting further processing and research. FUTURE WORK Indiana Department of Transportation Data Policy Produce a project wide metadata schema for use in all of CAM2 data to facilitate data management and distribution. Setting up the centralized infrastructure to host our data inventory and metadata database. Initiate a semi-automated process for data storage and metadata generation Propose a uniform data policy across all our data providers Edward R.
