Improving the academic performance of undergraduate students to ensure academic and career success.

3 COLLEGE STUDENT INVENTORY (CSI)
Designed for incoming first-year students with scales organized under three main categories: Academic Motivation General Coping Skills Receptivity to Support Services

4 COLLEGE STUDENT INVENTORY (CSI)
Four Summary Observation based on student responses in each of the three areas: Dropout Proneness Predicted Academic Difficulty Educational Stress Receptivity to Institutional Help High scores on the scales imply the advisability of intervention.

6 LEARNING AND STUDY STRATEGIES INVENTORY
The LASSI tool is designed to: Help students learn more about their study attitudes and see how well they use study and learning strategies. Assesses strengths and weaknesses in 10 different learning/study areas related to being a strategic and successful learner in college. Help students identify areas of knowledge, skills, motivation, and attitude they may need to improve upon. Based on the results the focus is on helping students develop successful study skills; including time management, note-taking skills, organizing textbook readings, memory techniques, test-taking strategies and developing a positive attitude toward learning.

9 INTERVENTIONS Programmatic Individual
Look at aggregate scales in the survey reports to review strengths and needs unique to the Class of Offer workshops and small group discussions to address the strengths and needs. Individual One on one conferences to discuss student’s strengths, challenges and goals. Referrals to campus resources (Financial Literacy, Career Services, Academic Support Services, etc.)

10 interventions Met with the FYS faculty to discuss data (November 9)
Conducted a workshop in FYS classes (November 14 – 18) to address Stress and Time Management.

11 Spring 2017 and Beyond Introduce the data and findings in the Spring Institute, January 9, 2017 Specific workshops for FYS faculty, AES advisors and staff and CAU faculty (CSI, LASSI and Learning Styles) Programmatic and Individual Interventions in First-Year Seminar Assign a reflection paper and action planning exercise for students to complete 3-5 In-course modules based on data collected at the beginning of the term from CSI and LASSI Support services through CASS Re-administer the tools/instruments each Spring
