SPEEA – The Beginning 1946 – 60 engineers at Boeing in Seattle form the Seattle Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) B-17 Wichita Boeing built many of the early aircraft designed and engineered by SPEEA members. B-47 B-29

1995 – 1,100 Wichita Engineers join SPEEA 1997 – Boeing merges with McDonnell Douglas 1999 – SPEEA members vote to affiliates with IFPTE, change name to Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, Local 2001

SPEEA – The 2000s (pt. 1) 2000 – 40-day strike by Puget Sound Profs and Techs at Boeing Wichita members were major supporters of and donors to striking SPEEA members during the strike through SPEEA Cares Settlement includes Working Together Partnership Agreement WTPU joins SPEEA Largest successful organizing drive in the U.S. in 30 years 2001 – new logo

SPEEA – The 2000s (pt. 2) 2003 – Boeing sells Spokane plant to Triumph Composite Systems – SPEEA continues representation at new company 2004 – WTPU votes for recertification, approves 4-year contract 2005 – BCA Wichita becomes Spirit AeroSystems – SPEEA continues to represent employees at new company 2008 – Ray Goforth named Executive Director
