3 Dress Code Boys Must be clean shaven
No baggy pants. Pants may not be pulled down below derriere – NO ‘SAGGING’ at MHS!! Shirts must have sleeves. Boys and Girls No Hats or Caps at any time/place No Facial Piercings –Only Ear piercings are acceptable.

4 Dress Code Girls Shorts and skirts must be no more than 4” above knee. Fingertip rule doesn’t apply. No bare midriff; top and pants/skirt must touch. No tank tops, racer backs, camisoles – there is no such thing as the “credit card” rule. Tops must be appropriate; not too low running shorts do not meet dress code requirements

6 Attendance A student cannot be absent more than 8 days this semester. 9 next semester. Always sign out to leave after permission is granted. Sign in when you return. Bring a note from parent AND doctor/dentist within TWO days to the Attendance office. Failure to follow procedures will result in detention hours. Emergencies are not a reason to ignore procedures.

7 Attendance- NEW this year!
No Student will be allowed to sign themselves out of school without PRIOR knowledge of parents/guardian and a school official. If a student is Ill, they must go to the clinic. the nurse will determine if the student is to be sent home or return to class. Any student signing out or leaving campus without prior permission will be truant (all assignments or exams will be marked as a “0” and cannot be made up). Students arriving late to school do not need an admit pass and will go directly to class. Exception- Students who ride the bus to school.

8 Tardies 1st and 2nd = Warnings 3rd and 4th = 2-Hour Detention
5th and 6th = 4-Hour Saturday Detention 7th and up = ISS 10 or higher = Referral to Police/court/fines New-Detentions for 1st period tardies will be assigned through the attendance office.

9 Cell Phone Policy Cell Phones are allowed at MHS, but they must be turned OFF during instructional time. Silenced is not OFF. Off Means “Off”. Always ask permission first even if others are using their phones. Texting mom or dad is not an excuse. 1st Offense – phoned turned in to the office. Phone will be returned at 3:00pm and a two hour detention will be assigned. 2nd Offense – two hour detention assigned. phone is returned after detention is served. Note- offices close at 3:45pm. Subsequent offenses = extended detention hours, longer confiscation, and/or parent may have to pick up phone.

11 Parking Freshman and Sophomores Cannot park at MHS or Church!
there are no exceptions or extenuating circumstances

14 Parking If you are caught leaving, you will lose your parking pass.
NO off campus lunch If you are caught leaving, you will lose your parking pass. While parking is suspended, if you park, it will be revoked. This pertains to driving or riding in a car there are no exceptions or extenuating circumstances.

15 Parking All juniors with valid church parking permits must exit the church on Gaylord drive (field house)…Not Echo lane (mhs). No senior parking at church Students leaving campus with be subject to disciplinary action and removal of parking permit.

16 Cheating - #1 student complaint
No differentiation between providing or receiving information. Cheating includes use of electronic media as well as hard copy information. Plagiarism is cheating. Cheating on test or major assignment will result in ISS and a zero for a test and/or project grade. Cheating on homework or quiz is an automatic Saturday detention and a zero . National Honor Society is at stake as well as counselor recommendations for college.

17 Fighting / Bullying Zero tolerance. Out of school suspension for fighting. includes slapping, punching, kicking, pushing. Bullying – Don’t do it! Grow up! Be mature Bullying may result in possible DAEP placement. includes electronic/social media cyber-bullying.

18 Technology Statement “While the district respects rights of freedom of expression under The First Amendment, students may be disciplined for Web postings that materially and/or substantially disrupt the educational process or that contains threats which endanger the health, safety, and well-being of students, district personnel, or staff members.” Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District (1969) If you don’t want it on a freeway billboard- don’t put it on a social media!

19 Drugs/Alcohol zero tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol.
Possession is care, custody, and/or control. Use caution, know what/who is in the car, what is in your locker/backpack! What you choose to hold for a friend. Dances and athletic events are considered “school property” and all rules apply.

20 Drugs/Alcohol Possession or under the influence of alcohol-
3-day suspension; possible ticket; alternative center for 30 school day placement. Possession or under the influence of Marijuana- 3-day suspension; ticket and possible arrest; up to 60 school days at alternative center. Controlled Substance (pills)- 3-day suspension; felony arrest; possible expulsion to juvenile justice aEp (harris county)

21 Theft If you are caught stealing, you may go to the alternative center. Theft is a crime, and the police will be involved. LOCK up YOUR belongings (especially in the locker rooms); If not, more than likely it will be stolen!!

22 Lunch Etiquette Clear everything on your table and PUT it IN THE TRASH CAN! “It’s not mine” – your table, your mess Cafeteria, breezeway, and courtyard Never allowed in academic wings
