Microsoft Office 365 for Education As educators, you have access to Microsoft Office 365 for free. All you need is your district account. Microsoft recognizes the .k12.ms.us domain as educational We do provide addresses for students if there is a need. Last year we generated addresses for students at Woolfolk and Highschool.

Returning teachers, you will be prompted to change your passwords when you login Best practices: Use different passwords for each account Make sure no one watches your enter your password Do to give your password to anyone and do no post it on the board or under your keyboard Log out when you leave your device Use at least eight characters of lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols Strong passwords can be easy to remember: iam:)2b29! “I am happy to be 29!”

6 Data Security: Ferpa The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal privacy law that gives parents certain protections with regard to their children's education records, such as report cards, transcripts, disciplinary records, contact and family information, and class schedules. Parents have the right to review their child's education records To protect a child's privacy, the law generally requires schools to ask for written consent before disclosing a child's personally identifiable information to individuals other than the parent

7 What student data can I share?
Directory Information: Name, address, telephone listing, electronic mail address, date and place of birth, dates of attendance, and grade level; Participation in activities and sports; Weight and height of members of athletic teams; Degrees, honors, and awards received; and The most recent school attended. FERPA defines "directory information" as information contained in a student's education record that would not be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed.

9 Internet filter We have iBoss internet filtering in place. If an educational site is blocked, let me know and I can probably unblock it.

10 Internet safety lessons
At some point this school year, the district curriculum director or your school’s curriculum coach will let you know it’s time to incorporate your internet safety lesson. It doesn’t have to be a long in depth lesson, but it does have to be presented to your students. And the plans for that lesson will have to copied and placed in a CIPA binder in your schools front office.

Student Password Staff Password I recommend connecting to the Staff network. We may disable the student network at times. Do no give the guest password to students. Do not download or stream movies and music. If 10 teachers are downloading the latest movie that could slow the network down and make it impossible for another teacher to stream an educational documentary.

12 Social media policy Accessing social media during school is prohibited
Employees should not give social media passwords to students Employees should not use social media to post anything that might result in a disruption of the school/work environment or anything that may harm the district, students or other employees Fraternization via the internet between employees and students is prohibited

13 Mobile device Checkout agreement
The device must be used for school business The device may not be loaned to anyone The user assumes responsibility for the care and appropriate use of the device. Report to the principal if the device is lost, stolen or damaged, and may be held financially responsible, if negligence is suspected.

Do not leave the device in a car for extended periods of time The user will sign and adhere to the district’s Internet Appropriate Use Policy. The user will not add any content that is profane, pornographic or offensive in nature.

15 Mobile device Checkout agreement
The user will return the device to the school office at the end of the school year, if no longer employed with the district or if planning to be absent for longer than two weeks.
