Ashni's pancreas, lungs, and kidneys, were donated to three women, while a man regained the sight in one of his eyes thanks to the youngster's donated cornea. Paresh, said: "It was quite emotional meeting them. It was a nice feeling that a part of Ashni's legacy still lives on. "Our family are all proud of Ashni.

12 Hindu Perspective on Organ Donation

13 As a Community we don’t talk about death and dying.
The challenges we face The first time some families discuss donation is when they are asked the question in a state of acute grief. As a Community we don’t talk about death and dying. Nine out of ten say yes when the decision to be an organ donor is known. Fewer than half of families agree to donation going ahead if they are unaware of their loved one’s decision to be a donor

14 Who can be an Organ Donor?
Patients on ventilators. (Ventilators provide breathing for a patient who is physically unable to breathe) Patients who are Brain Stem Dead (permanently lost the potential for consciousness and the capacity to breathe) Most organ donors die as a result of a brain haemorrhage, severe head injury or stroke Any patient dying in hospital can become a tissue donor. Even at home, after death eyes or skin can be donated.

15 Let’s see what these Recipients of Organs have to say

16 Fact !
