3 A Rich History Rooted in
Innovation Earned its first profit in 1937 Founded in 1919 by Clessie Cummins and W.G. Irwin Promoted diesels as a reliable source of power Pioneered the development of diesel engines Talking points Founded in 1919, the result of an unlikely partnership between a banker and an inventor, who shared a belief in the power of ideas and a vision for what ingenuity and hard work could achieve. The men were Clessie Cummins and W.G. Irwin, visionaries who saw the potential and power of the simple diesel engine. Here is some of the basic history: Cummins was founded in 1919 in Columbus Indiana, by mechanic Clessie Cummins and investor W. G. Irwin with the financial support from the Irwin family. As one of the 200 companies with the diesel license, Cummins took the available technology and transformed diesel into a reliable and everyday use of transformation power source. To promote the diesel engines, Cummins did a lot of creative events to let the world see the reliable power of diesel. Coast to coast bus tour powered by Cummins diesel engine in 1932 (started in New York and arrived in Los Angeles in 91 hours 10 min and burned only 365 gallons of fuel, which cost $21.90) Cummins car also ran in the Indianapolis 500 in early 1930s Clessie also drove a Cummins-powered Auburn car from New York to San Francisco in 1935 on $7.62 worth of fuel The Irwin family believed in diesel technology and understood the importance of taking the long view – that investing in innovative ideas take time. It took 18 years before Cummins earned its first profit - in And the rest, as we say, is history. 4 Performance Legendary Partner Dependable Customers Loyal
Five Cummins logos – four retired and current logo.  Vision, innovation, scale, durability, and environment.  We have developed and continue to evolve to meet and exceed our customers’ needs. What will our next legacy be?

5 25+ 5M+ 2.25M+ Of Success Proven Record
North American market leader Stable architecture and robust design for a broad range of applications Years of Production C & L Series produced globally miles of pre-production experience 25+ 5M+ 2.25M+

6 The Total Package Robust platform with over 5 million units sold
In-line 6 Cylinder HP, lb-ft Torque Class-leading power-to-weight ratio Proven in various duty cycles and across diverse applications Certified to 2017 Green House Gas standards

7 Total Engine System Integration Air Handling & EGR Combustion &
Aftertreatment Combustion & Fuel Systems Electronic Controls Fuel and Lube Filters With our in house component business and technology, we are able to find optimized solutions in each aspect but also the combinations that do so in concert: Base engine: friction and parasitics, displacement, bore/stroke Combustion: bowl design, nozzle spray angle, alternative fuels, injection pressure, multiple injections, rate shaping Air Handling: EGR, turbo efficiency Aftertreatment: High NOx conversion, good uniformity of flow and urea, temperature management Is the integration and optimization that enables to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer requirements in diverse markets and applications

8 Robust Air Handling System
Single Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) Simple, elegant design One sliding nozzle for dynamic airflow control Provides engine braking Proven reliability and durability Common HD bearing system design Modified exhaust manifold interface to improve durability and serviceability Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Steel braided inlet and outlet tubes for improved durability The Air handling system is lead first and foremost by the Cummins Turbo Technologies Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). This single VGT turbocharger is a simple and elegantly designed turbo that can dynamically adjust the airflow by adjusting a single sliding nozzle for better air/fuel mixing. Additionally, the VGT provides engine braking without the need of incorporating a separate engine brake. The 2017 L0 will build upon the proven reliable and durable VGT by incorporating a Heavy-duty bearing system that can be found on our X15 and X12 engines. Additionally, the exhaust manifold and VGT interface has been modified to improve the turbochargers durability and serviceability.

9 Fuel Systems and Combustion
XPI Fuel System provides multiple injections per event with 15 years of experience Reduces noise Reduces emissions Improves fuel efficiency 8.9 liters of displacement for increased power density without increasing engine stress

10 Fuel Filters by Fleetguard
NanoNet Fuel Filters have been used since 2013 10-13 times more effective at removing 4 micron particulates Traps and retains contaminants even under real world vibration and flow surge Protects high pressure injectors from damaging fuel systems Increases fuel system robustness Separates water for better fuel protection In order to provide the class leading compression ratio, the fuel quality needs to be best-in-class in order to prevent any fuel system damage. Since 2013, the ISL9 and now L9 have utilized Cummins Filtration Fleetguard Fuel Filters with NanoNet media. The NanoNet media provides times more protection compared to a StrataPore filter when removing 4 micron particulates (smaller than a red blood cell). This media does a better job at not only trapping the microns, but holding onto the microns during severe vibration. This protects injectors and improves the overall fuel system robustness. In 2017, a new stage 1 fuel filter will incorporate water in fuel separation technology to provide even better quality diesel to the fuel system.

11 Electronic Controls Single high capacity ECM (2350)
Common ECM across most diesel on-highway products Full control authority over the engine and aftertreatment system for optimized performance and improved engine lamp strategy Incorporates Connected Solutions Connected Diagnostics Connected Calibrations* Connected Tuning* *Connected Calibrations and Tuning capability availability at later date

12 Single Module Aftertreatment
Customer voice-driven design Combines high-efficiency SCR, an enhanced dosing unit and a high capacity DPF into a single flow-through unit. MidRange System features: Up to 70% reduction in space claim Up to 30% reduction in weight Enhanced thermal and fuel efficiency Building off over 10 years of aftertreatment experience, the 2017 L9 will use the new, Single Module Aftertreatment, from Cummins Emission Solutions. By consolidating the 2010 and 2013 aftertreatment system (DPF, Decomposition Tube, and SCR catalyst) into a single flow through unit, the L9 aftertreatment will see up to a 70% reduction in space claim (volume) and up to 30% reduction in weight. This flow-through design, either side-in-side out, or end-in-end-out, provide better thermal management and fuel efficiency without increasing backpressure.
