8 Assessment Foci Each piece of work is assessed for a particular assessment focus Achievement can fluctuate due to individual pupils’ strengths and weaknesses in different areas of the curriculum.

AF1 interesting texts I am able to write a range of imaginative texts. AF2 appropriate texts I am able to write for a range of audiences and purposes. AF3 organisation of whole texts I am able to control the sequence of my writing, using paragraphs of varying lengths and discourse markers appropriately. AF paragraphing I am able write using cohesive paragraphs and use topic sentences to guide the reader. AF sentence structure I am able to use a variety of simple and complex sentences and features that add emphasis to my writing. AF punctuation I am able to use a full range of punctuation accurately and consistently. AF vocabulary I am able to use an ambitious vocabulary taking into account my purpose and audience. AF spelling I am able to spell ambitious and uncommon words correctly.

- Zone of Proximal Development This will help pupils choose books with an appropriate degree of challenge for ‘maximum reading growth’ Online quizzes and regular testing to monitor progress Year 7 Reading Evening to support parents with reading at home 1st December pm to 7pm in Upper School Library

11 Maximum Reading Growth = 30 mins reading each day
15 minutes completed in tutor time each day 15 minutes reading for pleasure at home as part of home learning
