3 What is Coming of Age? (COA)
Year-long Unitarian Universalist course typically offered to teens (12-15 year olds) Formalizes the beginning of the individual’s search for religious truth A year of self-discovery Values clarification / Discernment of beliefs Integration into the life of the church

4 What are the goals of COA?
Raise spiritually mature people who promote love and justice in the world Give teens “roots” and “wings” Develop close relationships Raise life-long religious liberals

Community building Credos UU beliefs Spirituality UU theology Justice UU history Leadership

6 When does COA meet? Sunday mornings Lock ins
A couple of Saturdays (lock ins or fundraisers) Heritage trip to Boston

7 Why participate in COA? Program goals
Community building (teens and parents) Whole person building Practical goals High school curriculum High school preparation Life skills (social & practical) Spiritual health = emotional health Meaningful
