This manual is a respected source of Sunni Islamic Jurisprudence, with 75% agreement among the four schools of Sunni law.

Many things in Islamic societies are Haram and strictly enforced, with harsh forms of discipline such as public flogging, prison, hanging and beheading.

Sharia allows forced marriages without consent of one or both parties; age typically a factor. If a party resists, violence, physical intimidation, psychological abuse, blackmailing, kidnapping, threats of imprisonment or institutional confinement may result. Also, sex outside of marriage is strictly prohibited (zina).
Zina: the Koranic word for sexual relations outside of marriage. Under sharia, zina is punished by lashings, imprisonment or death by stoning.

Under Sharia, women are subordinate to men and considered deficient in intelligence & religion. Men make important decisions for them, with no objections allowed. To husbands, wives are tightly controlled sex objects whom he can hit. They are dependent on him for the necessities of life and always subject to divorce if she misbehaves in any way.
