2. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
If you are like many people, you have pondered this question from time to time.
While things are going well, you may not think much about God and eternity.
However, when a close friend or relative dies or when you have done something you know is wrong, then the question comes up again.

3. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
Volumes could be written on men’s opinions regarding entry requirements for heaven, but they are just that – opinions.
A question of this importance demands a factual answer.
Since the Bible is the most authoritative book about heaven, it ought to be the book you search for your answer.

4. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
Ask yourself some questions and compare your answers to the Bible. (Exodus 20:3-17)
In your youth, did you ever disobeyed your parents?
If so, you have broken God’s 5th Commandment “Honour thy father and thy mother.”
Have you ever taken something that was not yours whether small or big?
If so, you have broken God’s 8th Commandment, “Thou shalt not steal.”

5. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
Have you ever told a lie?
If so, you have broken God’s 9th Commandment, “Thou shalt not bear false witness.”
Have you ever looked on a woman with lust in your heart?
Jesus said, “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28).
If you have done this, you have broken God’s 7th Commandment, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”

6. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
How many of God’s Commandments can we break and still be good enough to go to heaven?
God answers that question for us too in the book of James 2:10. “Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
When you stand before God on Judgment Day, how will you plead?
Guilty or Not guilty?

7. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
The truth is, no one can keep God’s Ten Commandments.
Even one failure makes us a guilty sinner.
Because of our sin, we are not good enough to go to heaven.
God said, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)
We need our sins forgiven and wash away.
No amount of being good can do that.

8. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
Is there any hope?
Yes!
Because of His great love for you, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to pay for your sin’s penalty.
God said that “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

9. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
Because He paid the penalty of your sin in full, Jesus Christ can now forgive your sin, wash you clean, and make you good enough to go to heaven.
He offers this cleansing to you as a gift.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

10. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
You cannot have Christ’s gift until you admit you need it. God said, you must repent (change your mind about your sin) and be converted (turn to Christ alone for forgiveness).
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,” (Acts 3:19)
You must have a change of mind. Jesus said, “. . . except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)

11. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
Like any gift, you must receive Christ’s gift before it becomes yours.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12)

12. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
If you are a guilty sinner and want Christ to make you good enough to go to heaven, ask God to save you. Pray something like this.
God, I have changed my mind about my sin. I am a sinner. I am guilty. I do not deserve to go to heaven. I believe Jesus died and rose again to pay the penalty for my sin. I would like to receive His gift of forgiveness, cleansing, and eternal life in heaven. Please change my life and apply your payment to my account. Thank you. Amen.

13. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
If just now you sincerely received Jesus Christ and His offer of forgiveness and eternal life, you have done all that God requires to enter heaven.
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:12-13)

14. Good Enough to go to Heaven?
Begin daily reading the Bible. The book of St. John is a good place to begin.
Talk to God as a friend, live to please Him, and tell others about Christ.
Begin attending Northside Baptist Church or a Bible preaching Baptist church near you.
