7 Ever Active Kids Vision Mission Statement
Alberta students live, learn and play in healthy, active school communities. Mission Statement Ever Active Schools facilitates the development of healthy children and youth by fostering social and physical environments that support healthy, active school communities.

8 Ever Active Kids There is a health crisis in our children and youth
Canadian children are becoming progressively overweight and obese (Tremblay & Willms, 2000) 57% of children and youth are not active enough for healthy growth and development.

9 Ever Active Kids Active students are less susceptible to stress, exhibit positive attitudes about school and themselves, are less aggressive, and play better with fellow students (Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, 1992) 43% of parents report playing active games and sports with their children. Only 20% of parents play actively with their year olds. Active parents are more likely then less active parents to report that their children prefer to engage in physical activities of a more vigorous nature

Education support for a culture of learning for all school community members including quality implementation of wellness-related curricula for students

Environment fostering safe social and physical environments in the school, home and community; implementing policies that enable healthy active lifestyles and cultivating an engaging place where healthy choices are embedded in the culture of the school community. Evidence collaboratively identifying goals, planning for action and gathering information to indicate the effectiveness of actions to support healthy active lifestyles throughout the school community.
