1 Group policy

2 What is group policy? It is a feature of the Microsoft Windows operating systems that controls the working environment of user and computer accounts. For what? To configure computer and user settings on networks based on Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)

3 Active Directory Domain Services
“AD DS” It is a service stablished in one or more servers. Stores directory data and manages communication between users and domains, including user logon processes, authentication, and directory searches. Allows to create a scalable, secure, and manageable infrastructure for user and resource management.

4 Requirements AD DS is needed to implement group policy.
Computers that you want to manage must be joined to the domain, and users that you want to manage must use domain credentials to log on to their computers. You must have permission to edit Group Policy in the domain (Be the administrator)

5 Example of organization

6 General Applications Why group policies are needed?
Allow us to configure settings or set policies for users and computers. Where can it be used. Any big network with different needs, users, settings, configurations...

7 Some advantajes Centraliced control of Settings and Configurations
Ensures Easy application of setting and consistency of configurations and settings. Settings are applied from one central location. Greater Transparency in Management Easy to keep track of all the settings and controls that are being used.

8 Some advantajes Enhanced Productivity
User get all applications and setting specific to his roles and tasks. Administrator is freed from all trivial and repetitive tasks Reduce the number of technicians needed as a result. Reliable and Enchanced Security Centraliced applications and updation of all security settings and configurations. The security is centralized updated in periodic intervals, the security is reliable and efficient.

9 Some advantajes Cost and Time saving
All settings and configurations are applied automatically. Settings and configurations can be updated when a user log on or a computer starts up.

10 One example In my University in Spain
Classroom computers lock system for the teacher and also for surveilance of every screen. Safety issues → We were able to shut down computers to each other by sending a shutdown order to a computer into the network. Also we could add a funny Error message. They fixed it at once when they discovered.
