What information to you want to convey to them? Your own research! Not background information Why do you want to convey that information to your audience? What will make your audience stay at your poster long enough?

12 The UiO design manual There are vague guidelines for posters – general posters - at UiO There are apparently no guidelines or templates for scientific posters Fonts Swiss / Questor Arial / Georgia Colours: Black Red White Grey Be careful with red – it’s a very strong colour Use patches in white, grey, black or transparent as background for text Use the colon as a design element

Always use the UiO logo With appropriate depth University, Faculty, Department, Center The red seal with apollon shall: Always be used Be displayed in colours Be in the lower left corner, positioned at least one diameter from the left and bottom of the page The seal may be placed two places – special rules apply To the left of the logo (version 1) Aligned underneath the colon (version 2) Basic designprinciples over rules

Textbody: Serif font Title should be Short, a one line subtitle is ok, but avoid : Formatted in sentence case This is my amazing title THIS IS MY AMAZING TITLE This is my Amazing Title Width of textbox = characters Fontsize should be big enough to read from a distance Contrast between text and background Emphasize with italics, not underline Use lists whenever you can Bullets are for lists, not for headings Watch your indentations, intertexttual white space and white space around text inside textboxes!
