2 God’s Great Compassion
“For God so loved the World that He gave his only Son” John 3:16 Our Great Commission!

3 “All power is given unto me in heaven
and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, (“Preach the gospel” Mk 16:15) baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Mt. 28:18-20

4 Notice the critical dimensions of this commission:
1. The Power of Jesus. Mt. 28:18 “all power is given unto me in heaven and in Earth” A. Only God can change a heart and destiny. Col 1:13-14 “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins”

5 And ye are witnesses of these things!”
2. The Participation of his People. 19 “Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. A. Who? “Go ye therefore!” Lk 24:46-48 “Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations… And ye are witnesses of these things!”

6 2. The Participation of his People. 19
“Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. B. What: Mk 16:15 “preach the gospel” “Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again”. 1 Cor. 15:3,4 1) Introduce them to Jesus! Luke 19:10 “the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

7 C. Where? “Teach all nations”. Mt. 28:19
2. The Participation of his People. 19 “Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. C. Where? “Teach all nations”. Mt. 28:19 Mk 16:15 “go into all the world and preach the gospel” Acts 1:8 “ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

8 D. Why? 2. The Participation of his People. 19
“Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. D. Why? 1) Because Jesus is their only hope. John 3:3 “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Acts 4:12 “neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven …whereby we must be saved”

9 D. Why? 2. The Participation of his People. 19
“Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. D. Why? 2) Because God wants everyone to be saved! 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is …longsuffering to us- not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

10 D. Why? 2. The Participation of his People. 19
“Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. D. Why? 3) Because it’s our Job! 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, … and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.”

11 and then shall the end come.”
2. The Participation of his People. 19 “Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. D. Why? 4) Because Jesus is waiting for us! Mt 24:14 “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

12 2. The Participation of his People. 19
“Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. E. When? 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 “We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

13 “Boast not thyself of tomorrow;
2. The Participation of his People. 19 “Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. E. When? Pr. 27:1 “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” (also Pr. 24:10-12)

14 Ask God to give you opportunities to share!
2. The Participation of his People. 19 “Go ye therefore and teach all nations”. Application: HOW? Pray! Ask God to give you opportunities to share!

15 1) Pray Ephesians 6:18-20 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

16 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:
2) Prepare: 1 Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” 2 Timothy 2:15

17 because they’re willing to share!
3) Practice: Share your story! Louise, Gracia, Ed and Cindy, Greg, Jun are all a blessing because they’re willing to share! Ps 107:2 “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so”

18 God can use your mistakes! But he cannot use your silence!
3) Practice: Share your story! God can use your mistakes! But he cannot use your silence!

19 But we can “partner” with those who can!
4) Partner with others We can’t all go “into all the world” But we can “partner” with those who can! 2 Cor. 8:1 “Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;”

20 4) Partner with others 2 Cor. 8:2-4 “How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. Koinōnia diakonia: partnership (communion) of service

21 4) Partner with others 2 Corinthians 8:5
“And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, (They “Partnered” with God!) and unto us by the will of God.” (They “Partnered” with Others!)

22 that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
4) Partner with others 2 Cor 8:7-9 “Therefore, as ye abound in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

23 We do this for World Missions through our “faith promise” giving.
“He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

24 “God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 2 Cor 9:8-10 He hath dispersed abroad; (Shared God’s “seed”) he hath given to the poor: (Invested in others) his righteousness remaineth for ever. (Treasures in heaven) Now He that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness”

25 1792 William Carey preached on Is. 54:2,3
“Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes…” Expect Great things from God! Attempt Great things for God! This led to the formation of the Baptist Missionary Society with another Pastor named Andrew Fuller. "There’s a gold mine in India; but it seems as deep as the center of the earth; who will venture to explore it?"

26 William Carey responded: "I’ll go down into this pit, but remember,
you must hold the rope.“ At the age of 33 he resigned his church and moved his family to the foreign field. The funds of the Society amounted at the time to £13 2s 6d. (about $17 in today’s currency)

27 Do you suppose any who gave then, are regretting it now?
Few in his small church could go, but all could give to help him! Do you suppose any who gave then, are regretting it now?
