Business priorities are changing
Sustainable growth is the CEO’s top priority and innovation is required to enable it Responsiveness and agility are the new key competencies, requiring innovation across three areas: Products, services and markets Operation of core functional areas Overall business and enterprise models (especially collaboration) Business model innovation is becoming as important as traditional product and service innovation. Businesses that can regularly innovate outperform their rivals in both revenue and margin. The pressures organizations are facing around the people agenda are common. Throughout the rapidly emerging global economy, the same themes are articulated by senior executives, in particular, the CEO. Namely that they are under pressure from the Board and the market to improve both the top line and the bottom line at the same time. In particular, profit is under pressure from hyper-competitive markets driven by the globalisation of the economy and the rise of countries such as India, China, Brazil and Russia. What is clear is that in the past two years, most CEOs have recognised that innovation in products/services and innovation in business models are required to achieve growth. 3
