4 NEW SKILLS Tea Ceremony Yosakoi Shamisen Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Peiron
Jess There is almost literally an unlimited amount of new skills that you can learn here, if you are up for the challenge and excitement of learning something new. If you are interested in Japanese culture and traditions (which you probably are because you are here) then I definitely recommend you try out a few of these. For the sports lovers, why not try a martial art? You can try Kendo, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Karate and many other exciting kick ass moves. I started Karate last year and it’s been absolutely awesome. If you aren’t too keen on martial arts, not to worry, there is still a lot of other things you can learn to do like Yosakoi (Ceremonial dancing), or Taiko (Japanese drums) , Tea Ceremonies and countless other exciting things. If you are interested in joining any of these activities, or something else, please don’t hesitate to ask your senpais, or even your school or city hall. It would really complete your Japan experience if you can learn something new and then show your friends and family back home. It will also help you meet new people that may have similar interests as you. There’s BJJ available in Nagasaki City and Sasebo :) -Will

5 Sporting teams/ training/ triathlons and marathons
Will Morgan 45s Joining a sports team or joining in on a team's training is a great way for you to keep fit and make friends. Some sports teams train in the gymnasiums of schools on weeknights. If you are interested in finding out what sports there are you can consult with city hall or even ask a teacher at your schools if the gymnasium is used after school and for what sports? There are many marathons and triathlons held across Nagasaki and throughout Kyushu. The bayside marathon is on November 19th but I’m pretty sure it’s full. There are full and half marathons in December, February, March and August around Nagasaki. There are also triathlons in Goto in June and a swimming event in Sasebo in July. If you check out the marathon-kyushu website you can see a list of the upcoming events.
