2 God-Given Leadership Roles
What are we doing with what God has entrusted to our care?

3 Choose…Wisely! Joshua 24:14 "Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in Truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." NKJV

4 Commitment & Consistency
“Read this, PLEASE!” Matthew 15:7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 8 "These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'" NKJV Isaiah 29:11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, "Read this, please.“ And he says, "I cannot, for it is sealed." 12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, "Read this, please.“ And he says, "I am not literate." 13 Therefore the Lord said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, NKJV

5 What can I do? Was Noah a business mogul or famous person of his day?
Abraham was just a goat herder among many other goat herders. Nehemiah was a slave that served the King fresh grape juice. Esther was a slave girl that made it to being Queen, but still could not approach the King without great fear. Peter was a fisherman of Galilee without a formal education. John the baptizer lived in the wilderness, wore rough clothes, and ate insects. Matthew was hated by the masses because he was a tax collector for the Roman occupation.

6 Whatever choice you make Makes you. Choose wisely!

7 Indecision is Failure Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." NKJV

8 Indecision is Failure Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." NKJV

9 If only… Luke 16:10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who will give you what is your own? NKJV

10 “First let me…” Matthew 8:18 And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go." 20 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." 21 Then another of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." 22 But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead." NKJV

11 Jesus demonstrates His worthiness
Matt 8:23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" 26 But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 So the men marveled, saying, "Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?" NKJV

12 While Jesus demonstrates His worthiness
What do you and I demonstrate?

13 “I LOVE the Lord!” James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe — and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. NKJV

14 Are we leaders? Even if you don’t have kids, consider this from the perspective of possibilities. Who would we want our children to follow? Are we the kind of example they SHOULD follow? Our actions are burned into the minds of our children…and many of the people around us. Is it to the glory of God, or do we bring Him shame?

15 Are we leaders? Father - Ephesians 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. NKJV Proverb 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. NKJV …Proverb 22:5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he who guards his soul will be far from them. NKJV

16 Are we leaders? Mothers - 1 Timothy 2:15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control. NKJV 1 Timothy 5:14 Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully. NKJV Proverb 1:8 (6:20) My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother NKJV Proverb 10:1 (15:20) The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother. NKJV Proverb 23:22 Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old. 23 Buy the Truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding. 24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who begets a wise child will delight in him. 25 Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her who bore you rejoice. NKJV

17 Are we leaders? Youth - 1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. NKJV Psalm 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate. NKJV

18 Are we leaders? Grandparents – 2 Timothy 1:5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. NKJV Titus 2:1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; NKJV Titus 2:3 the older women likewise, that they be…teachers of good things — 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be blasphemed. NKJV

19 Are we leaders? Older - Leviticus 19:32 'You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the Lord. NKJV Proverb 16:31 The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the Way of Righteousness. NKJV Ps 71:17 O God, You have taught me from my youth; and to this day I declare Your wondrous works. 18 Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come. NKJV

20 “It’s 3 o’clock and all’s well!”
Storms are not always predictable. Proverb 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. NKJV Proverb 27:8 Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place. NKJV Proverb 27:11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him who reproaches me. NKJV Proverb 27:12 A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished. NKJV Proverb 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. NKJV

21 “Winter” is Coming Proverb 27:23 Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and attend to your herds; 24 For riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to all generations. 25 When the hay is removed, and the tender grass shows itself, and the herbs of the mountains are gathered in, 26 The lambs will provide your clothing, and the goats the price of a field; 27 You shall have enough goats' milk for your food, for the food of your household, and the nourishment of your maidservants. NKJV

22 our children’s upbringing?
Would we entrust the government with our children’s upbringing?

23 What if Nehemiah had left the walls of Jerusalem to others?

24 THINK! CHOOSE WISELY! are NOT the same things. To Achieve your desires
and to Achieve true happiness are NOT the same things. CHOOSE WISELY!

25 Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. 15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. NKJV

26 Whatever choice you make Makes you. Choose wisely!

28 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the Faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. NKJV

29 Jude 3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the Faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. NKJV

30 Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. NKJV

31 Who’s Watching You? Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven. NKJV

32 Are you ON TARGET? Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord. Walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and Truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light." 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the Will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God. NKJV

33 “What Must I Do To Be Saved?”
