2 Experience with Quantification In Kenya we procure all the 13 commodities in the UNCoLSC list. Health care in Kenya is devolved to the Counties and therefore they carryout quantification of health commodities. However, for contraceptives this is still done at the National level.

3 Experience with Quantification (2) Methods for quantifying contraceptives are – Population – Consumption – DHIS2 data for usage & services Tools used are Reality Check and PipeLine Stakeholders – Government – MOH, KEMSA, NASCOP – DPs – USAID, UNFPA, KfW, DFID – Implementing Partners – MSH, CHAI, PS-Kenya

4 Experience in Quantification (3) In quantifying Essential Medicines KEMSA uses data from the Logistics Management Information System (LMIS) Also used for tracking consumption and issue data at facility level Being used for order management for ARVs

5 Data Challenges Incomplete data Non reporting Inaccuracy Timeliness

6 Data Challenges (2) To overcome the data challenges – We estimate requirements using population data – Capacity building of County managers in data quality and commodity management – Using survey data
