3 As parents and professionals, we build relationships on..  Trust  Communication  Working towards the same outcomes.  Being there for one another as we work together for our children.

4 Today, let’s reach an understanding about working together….in behavior and instruction.

5 The Discipline Foundation Policy: School-Wide Positive Behavior Support has been adopted….. Now it is time for us to work together on implementation.

7 So, what do the guiding principles look like in school?

8 Be Safe Be Responsible Be Respectful Wait your turn in line. No cutting. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Walk at all times. Have your tickets and/or money ready. Take only your designated portion and eat only your own food. Place trash and recyclables in appropriate containers. Push your chair in when you leave. Be polite and courteous to everyone. Use good table manners. Always use appropriate language. Respect the property and rights of others. A Cafeteria “Rules” Example Reed MS, LAUSD

Help your friends. Classroom Independent Work: Walk in our class. Use materials correctly. Independent Work: Finish my work. Work as hard as I can. Independent Work: Use an “indoor” voice. Take turns with materials.

17 Discipline Foundation Policy  Requires that consequences are matched to misconduct and are applied consistently and appropriately.

19 Discipline Foundation Policy helps to establish…  a consistent framework for all schools so that each school can develop and/or refine a discipline plan that promotes a culture of discipline conducive to learning at every school in the LAUSD.

20 Everyone has a role  Get to know the vocabulary, the basic conceptual framework and commit to improving behavior as a top priority in the LAUSD.
