3 What would happen to water if I poured it out onto the desk?

4 Water can run-off ACROSS the top of or DOWN the side of the desk. This is caused by gravity and….. The topography of the desk is flat but the topography of the earth outside has hills and valleys along which water moves. Topography-- The Earth's surfaces, shapes and features

6 WATER MOVES UP Evaporation-- Process where a liquid turns to a gas at the surface of the liquid

8 Permeation-- Movement of a liquid, gas, or vapor through a solid Water can move INTO a Surface Infiltration-- Process by which water on the ground surface enters the soil

9 What would happen to water if I poured it into a potted plant?

10 Into the soil and then….. Water Can Move INTO a plant and leave as vapor (gas) Ground cover-- Any plant that grows over an area of ground Transpiration-- Process by which water taken up through a plant’s roots is passed up and out of the leaves and stems as water vapor (gas)
