Pose the problem to be investigated and state its significance Why interview this particular person? What makes this interviewee a credible, knowledgeable resource for your study? What did you hope to learn from interviewing this expert? State your hypothesis.
3
Describe how the research was done. When and where did you meet? In what form did the interview take place (in person, over the phone, online)? How long did the interview last? What questions did you ask? (Attach list of questions as an appendix.) How did you record information conveyed in the interview?
4
Present your findings. Briefly describe the interaction. Did the interviewee appear comfortable responding to your questions? What topics did you discuss? Summarize the interviewees’ responses to your questions. You may also quote any particularly illuminating sections of the interview. Did the interview stray from your list of questions—and if so, was this a productive straying? What new information did you learn from the interview?
5
Present your analysis of the results. Has your hypothesis been proven or disproven? Why or why not? What previous research findings were confirmed? How do you believe your results will impact your future research on the topic? Why? Would you make any changes to your research question(s)? What specific source materials (if any) did the interview direct you toward?
