Music is not bad, only misunderstood... Why children should be exposed to music, primarily at an early age. Matthew Wright G/T Independent Research Advisor: Damon Foreman Dr. Kiehl

Hypothesis Music is an important part of life. It changes with society and society changes with music. Parents have forgotten this. They must keep in mind both the positive and negative effects music has on their children. It is more beneficial for a person to be exposed to music in some way, shape, or form rather than for them not to be at all during their childhood.

Thesis Exposing a child to music at a young age may positively affect a child in more ways than one as he/she grows and develops.

Thesis Part 2 How does music help...  Mentally?  Socially?  Emotionally?  And Career-wise?

How does music help in school, at work, and/or mentally? School and Work  Focus; Stress Reliever Mentally  Allows thoughts to flow much easier  Fewer Headaches  Helps heal the brain  Increases motor skills  Allows the brain to function more easily  Music therapy

How does music help socially? Allows individuals to meet others who share a common interest Connections may be made Bonds may be created between individuals and/or groups Helps individuals become more comfortable and accepting of others

How does music help emotionally? Stress relieving Motivates individuals Calms individuals The effect is based on the current situation. More times than not, it is quite beneficial

How does music help career-wise? Minoring and Majoring in music Music performance, music business, other such degrees Starting a school (such as Music&Arts or Damon Foreman's Music Academy)

Final Project An informational video on how music benefits children. Directed at new and future parents. Consists of commentary made by myself and video recorded interviews I have held since the beginning of the school year. Videos of performances will be used as well. Information from surveys shall be included on any display boards.

Final Project Part 2 Why did I choose this as my final project?  Interviews from actual performers of music will allow the truthful insight needed to explain how it helps.  Videos of performances will demonstrate the immediate physical effects it has on others (looks of elation as a basic example) as well as provide a little entertainment for the viewers.

Final Project Part 3 This video is being made for new and future parents, because after a certain amount of time, it is too late to change a child's ways. By giving this DVD to the parents before their children are set in their ways, they will be able to make better choices than they originally planned on making, so that their children are able to live comfortable and successful lives.

Thank you for your time... Music truly is beneficial. It is a constantly evolving idea. Furthermore, it is forever changing. We change with it, as it changes with us. Hopefully, the future generations will change for the better with the aid of music.
