How many of these projects are wrong???

None!

All of these projects more or less are our Christian response to the Biblical call to clothe the naked and feed the hungry. Matthew 25: 34-36

The United Church Response

The Mission & Service Fund!

We fund programs in all of these areas: Feeding the hungry Visiting the sick and imprisoned Clothing the naked Sheltering the homeless Support and advocacy

Supporting Chaplaincies Supporting First Nation’s Ministries Supporting projects and ecumenical partnerships around the world Financing Church Transformational Projects

funding theological Schools funding ecumenical endeavours providing General Council and Conference staff to assist with congregational programs We provide all these services and more with your financial support of the: Mission and Service Fund Fund

Thank You!!!!!!

Where does your money go?

Your generosity supports ministry and mission in every presbytery!

In Maritime Conference Last year we provided support to:  Christian Council for Reconciliation  Karing Kitchen  Brunswick Street Mission Mission

 Aboriginal Peace & Friendship Project (Tatamagouche Centre)  Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network Co-ordinator  CQS Care Centres  Coverdale

 Campus Ministries  Hospital Chaplaincies  Pastoral Charges  Transformational ministry initiatives ministry initiatives

We did all this with the $335,000 provided for us in Mission Support Grants

This Mission Support grant money is provided to Maritime Conference through your financial support of the Mission and Service Fund. Thank You!!!!!!

Our Challenge

Since 1988 givings to the Mission and Service Fund have remained steady at $30,000,000

Since 1988, prices and salaries have gone up substantially: What cost $100 in 1988 Now costs

$161.73

That means if you gave $100 in today’s money to the Mission and Service Fund

It would be worth only

$61.83 in 1988 dollars

$30,000,000 of today’s dollars does not compare to the 30 Million dollars given in 1988. In fact it is only worth $18.55 Million. Inflation has eaten away the rest.

This means that it is harder and harder to support the important ministries in Maritime Conference, Canada and the world.

We already know that you are a generous people

We know that the present economic climate is uncertain.

In these tough economic times, we are not asking people to break their bank.

When organizations come to your door asking for donations

Please be generous but please don’t forget

The Mission and Service Fund

The goal for 2010 for the Mission and Service Fund is $30,200,000.

We can only achieve We can only achieve these goals if these goals if we work together we work together

A special project idea from our friends in Hamilton Conference.

What possibly can one small dime do? A dime buys enough gas to travel 1 kilometre. A dime might buy two pieces of penny candy. Not much!!!!!

If every member of Maritime Conference Redirected 10 cents of their charitable givings To the Mission and Service Fund Every day for a year.

That’s just ten pennies… every day…

That would mean that each member would give an extra $36.50 a year to the Mission and Service Fund.

That’s less than the price of one full tank of gas per year.

If all 85,000 plus members of Maritime Conference gave an extra dime a day to the Mission and Service Fund

Then we, in Maritime Conference, would collect an extra $3,102,500 million dollars in M&S money every year.

Remember: We are not asking you to break the bank. We are asking you to remember the power of one dime a day.

Join Us.

Together we can do so much. Pledge to give an extra dime every day to the Mission and Service Fund.

Remember … The Mission and Service Fund

Renew … Our commitment

Rejoice! In the difference that we make in people’s lives!

Thank You!
