Performance The ability of students to apply their knowledge and skills to the kinds of problems and decisions they will likely encounter after they graduate.

14. HB 1490 Timeline 14 July 2014 – Bill signed into law - Section 160.526.1, RSMo Oct. 2014 – Work groups organized to develop and recommend academic performance standards Oct. 2015 – Work groups presented the proposed standards to state board of education. Last of three public hearings held

Seeking feedback 15 The law specified that the state board shall hold at least three public hearings to receive public testimony: Within 30 days of workgroups being convened (10/27/14) Approximately 6 months after the first hearing (4/20/15) When the work groups submit the academic performance standards they have developed to the state board (10/26/15) Transcripts of the hearings, as well as speaker notes and comment cards are all posted on the DESE website.
