9 iMed: How does it work? As soon as international students (on a study permit) register for courses, they are automatically enrolled in iMed $180.00 iMED fee will be charged to student account iMED Card will be emailed to students within two weeks Canadian Citizens & Permanent Residents are encouraged to purchase temporary health insurance through Global Campus Health (prices vary)

11 Medical Services Plan (MSP) Basic Provincial Health insurance is legally required if you are residing in BC 3-month wait period to qualify for MSP (remainder of arrival month plus 2 months) MSP covers medical appointments, testing, hospitalizations. $75.00 monthly fee

12 UBCSUO Health & Dental – Blue Cross 1)Extended health insurance – student automatically enrolled 2) Online opt-out form if proof of alternate coverage provided 3)Full-year coverage - $256.70 4)Covers up to 80% dental fees and prescription drugs, out of province/country emergency treatment, vision care etc. See the Student Union for more details regarding coverage

14 If you don’t have MSP Coverage Fees start at: AMBULANCE - $550.00 EMERGENCY ROOM VISIT - $600.00 PHYSICIAN/DOCTOR'S FEE - $300.00 per physician that sees you WARD STAY (if you are required to stay in hospital) - $3,300.00 per day DOCTOR/PHYSICIAN APPOINTMENT ON CAMPUS - $71.00

17 Privacy Policies Current provincial legislation prohibits UBC from discussing information regarding a student’s application, file or academic standing to anyone other than the student (without the student’s consent). Third Party Authorization grants a student the ability to give access to their account to another, typically parents. Forms are available at: http://students.ubc.ca/enrolment/records/permission
