Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) If bad things happen to you to as a child they can impact your health for the rest of your life.

Kids with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) such as: Separation or divorce Physical, sexual or verbal abuse are more likely to have problems later in life. Family member addicted to alcohol or other substances Family member diagnosed with depression or mental illness

ACEs are rare. common. 64% of adults have at least 1 ACE.

ACEs harm children’s developing brains.

Persons with ACEs are more likely to attempt suicide

They are more likely to drop out of school or end up in prison

The high cost of ACEs is hidden in many other problems.

Sonoma County ACEs Connections is working to reduce the impact of ACEs, to build resilience and to prevent future ACEs. To more effectively identify and serve persons impacted by trauma. But we can do something about ACEs.

The good news is that by understanding ACEs, we can help to protect kids and families.
