4 Accessing the Instrument Log into: https://mxweb.media -x.com/home/ncval/ https://mxweb.media -x.com/home/ncval/ Username (all lower case) Password (default123456) Click Login

5 Profile and Settings Click the Profile icon.

6 Change Password Click on the Change Password icon. Type in the original password (123456) Type in a unique password that is six characters long and contains a number and a capital letter. Click Save

7 Settings Click on Settings. Choose Spell Checker Dictionary English (US) Change your Time Zone.

8 Save Changes Click on Save & Exit.

9 Accessing the Tool Click the NC Educator Evaluation System icon.

10 End User License Agreement On your first login, read and accept the End User License Agreement

11 Directions for Completing a New Self Assessment To complete a self assessment, you must login to the system.

12 Getting Started Click on the NC Educator Evaluation System icon. Click on Evaluate/Report

13 Getting Started Click on New Self Assessment

14 Getting Started Click Next –Fields are pre-populated

15 Finding the Rubric Click on Rubric for Evaluating Teachers

16 Setting Date and Time Click on the Calendar and Clock icon that is located next to. –The calendar will open.

17 Setting Date and Time Choose the date you are completing your self-evaluation, and then click Set.

18 Setting Date and Time Use the drop downs to choose the… –Start Time (the time you begin your self- evaluation) –Status (Probationary or Career Status Teacher) –School Year. *End Time will be entered at the end of your evaluation.

19 Completing the Self Assessment Read and complete your self assessment by clicking in the appropriate boxes. –When you click in a box, a checkmark will appear.

20 Comments, Links, and Artifacts You may type in Comments, attach a File (.txt, PDF,.doc,.docx, ppt, pptx), include a web Link, and check the boxes of Example of Artifacts.

21 Completing the Self Assessment Once you have completed all of the standards of your Self Assessment, use the drop downs to choose your End Time.

22 Saving and Printing Click on the Save icon. Click on the Print icon to print your Self Assessment –The print icon opens the self assessment in a new window. Click on the Done icon before exiting the program.

23 FAQ What if I start the Self Assessment, but I don’t have time to finish? If you do not finish the Self Assessment, click on the Save icon to save your progress. Note: The system will not indicate if you skipped any standards.

24 OPTION: Self Assessment Name You may change the Self Assessment Name by clicking on the Pencil icon. After you change the name, click on the Disc icon.

25 OPTION: Principal View Once Self Assessment is complete, you may click in the box next to I completed my self assessment and now the principal can view it. –If you do not wish to share your Self Assessment with your principal, skip this step. Click Done

26 OPTION: View Self Assessment You may view the Self Assessment that you completed by clicking on the name. Click on Rubric for Evaluating Teachers to edit.

27 OPTION: View Self Assessment Click the Done icon.

28 Viewing Tasks When the Evaluatee Task is viewed, the tab is dark blue. You will see four boxes: –Self Assessment –Peer Observation –Artifact –Journal

29 Viewing Evaluations The principal will notify you when an evaluation has been completed. You must view the evaluation.

30 Viewing Evaluations To view the evaluation that the principal completed, click on the Evaluator Task. Click on the evaluation name to view the evaluation.

31 Reviewing and Printing an Evaluation Click on the evaluation name to review and/or print the evaluation. The print icon will open the evaluation in a new window.

32 Viewing Status You will be in the Viewing Status meaning that no changes can be made to the evaluation and boxes are grayed out.

33 Viewing Status When you are finished reviewing your evaluation, click on the Done icon.

34 Tea(cher) Status After reviewing your evaluation, use the dropdown in Tea Status and choose Completed. –This will indicate to the principal that you have reviewed your evaluation.

35 Reminder It is your responsibility to let the principal know that you have viewed your evaluation. Click on the Done icon.

36 OPTION You may also view the items in the Summary Rating Sheet box, if items have been completed, by clicking on them.

37 Saving Your Progress When you have completed viewing the items in the Evaluator Task, click on the Done icon.

38 Logging Out Once you have completed your Self Assessment and you have had the option of viewing the items that the principal completed, you may Logout.

39 Settings There is nothing a teacher needs to do in Settings.

40 Evaluations To view the Evaluator Task and the Evaluatee Task tabs, click on Evaluations.

41 New Artifact Entry There is nothing a teacher needs to do in New Artifact Entry.

42 New Peer Observation There is nothing that a teacher needs to do in New Peer Observation.

43 New Journal A teacher may use the New Journal option to type in notes or reflections.

44 Observation 10 days Automatically generated e-mail Electronic signature This needs work

45 Mid-year This needs work.

46 Summative Electronic Signature This needs work.
