2 What is a Proposition? A proposition is also known as a ballot question. Propositions are potentially voted on to accept or reject a proposal that can be made into a new law or an amendment to the state constitution. All but one of this year’s props have been proposed by our legislature.

3 Proposition 106 -Voting YES allows voters to be able to choose the health care coverage that they want. It also prevents the federal government from fining us for not having health care coverage. -Voting NO protects the new health care law that was passed by Congress earlier this year.

5 Proposition 107 -A YES vote prevents the state government from using race and gender as a requirement for the amount of people that they can hire. -A NO vote keeps affirmative action in place, which will ensure that there is an equal amount of racial and gender groups represented in the government.

7 Proposition 109 - A YES vote prevents laws that restrict hunting and fishing in Arizona. - A NO vote keeps hunting and fishing laws the same as they already are. Example, trapping has been banned in Arizona since 1994.

9 Proposition 111 -A YES vote will change the title of the Secretary of State to “Lieutenant Governor.” If the law is passed, the governor and Lieutenant Governor will run as a ticket. -A NO vote will keep the title of the office of Secretary of State the same. The Governor and Secretary will continue to run individually.

11 Proposition 203 -A YES vote will allow people with certain medical problems to get a prescription for medical marijuana from a doctor. -A NO vote will continue to keep marijuana illegal in all situations in Arizona.
