Electricity Test Review

Statistics 5 total responses were at a level 1 45% of responses where level 2 47% where a level 3 Projected Class average for Friday 60% Main Area to focus on – Electricity calculations – Outlets – Wiring Terminology

How will this work I will pair up Students in each section depending on your rankings – 1 and3 will be paired up – Most of the 2 will be paired together You will have 7 minutes each rotations to asks questions, and compare notes- Utilize this time wisely! If the topic did not have any 1’s in it I will briefly review it myself and open it up to any questions

Breakers 1(), 2(3), 3(3) Hendrick overview Any Questions?

Electrical components from power lines to your house 1 (1), 2(3), 3(2) Transformer – Drops power form 250000V to 220V Service drop – Transformer to the house Entrance head – Protects lines from weather Meter – Tells how much power you used SEP (Service entrance panel) – Breaker box

Types of Wires 2(4), 3(2) What you need to Know – T, TW, UF wires – Amount of wires according to color

Single Phase Vs. 3 Phase 2(4), 3(2) Single Phase – 3 wires on a power line – Used in houses 3 Phase – 4 wires on a power line – 4 transformers – Used in industrial buildings

Wiring Terminology 2(4), 3(2) What you need to know – Ohms Electrical resistance – Volts Measures pressure – Watts Measure amount of electric Flow – Volts Electrical pressure – Conductor Something that electricity can flow – Resistance Something that opposes electrical flow

Outlet pictures 1 (1), 2(5), 3(4) Hendrick Overview Any questions over this section?

Colors of Outlet Screws 2 (3), 3 (3) Gold – Hot Silver – Neutral Green – Ground

Electrical Calculations 1 (1), 2(2), 3(3) Practice problems

Electrical Safety 2(1), 3(5) Hendrick Overview

Alternative Energy Sources 2(4), 3(2) Renewable resources Non renewable resources Natural gas burns cleaner than coal Most resources are used to produce steam Radiation generates heat
