Hebrews 11: 24 - 29 24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to be ill-treated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because

he saw him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel. 29 By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.

Sacrificial generosity Moses chose to live a sacrificial life. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt… v26 Allowing our hearts to be marked by the sacrifice of Jesus.

Perseverance He persevered because he saw him who is invisible. v27 Perseverance: Just keep showing up Resilience: Coping when it doesn’t work out. James 1:4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Legacy He was looking ahead to his reward. v26 Moses influencing generations that followed. We stand in faith now for what will come later.

Hebrews 3: 1 - 6 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. 3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honour than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honour than the house itself. 4 For every house is built by someone,

but God is the builder of everything. 5 ‘Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,’ bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

Fix our eyes on Jesus We stay focussed on Jesus. Fix your thoughts on Jesus v1 We trust God with the big picture. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. v4

His house is found in us! And we are his house… v6 Expect God to be at work in us as he builds his Kingdom.

Jesus: our anchor And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. v6
