8 Types of Social Entrepreneurship Social Enterprise is the broad term to encompass social entities that operate using business principles to achieve a social goal.  Social firm – Enterprise founded to employ those with barriers to employment  Social Business – Specific type of enterprise as defined by Muhammad Yunus: the enterprise is self-sustaining with revenue, but no one profits. 9 Types of Social Entrepreneurship  Social Intrapreneurship – Socail innovation from within a for-profit company  Venture Philanthropy – Venture Capitalists investing in social entrepreneurs for a return – financial or social return  Non-profits with revenue – They add some activity unrelated to their mission in order to generate revenue – does this make them a social enterprise?
