4. Description Describe the subject matter of the artwork or the elements you see. Is it a person or an animal? What type of lines or shapes do you see? What other elements do you observe?

5. Look at the composition of the artwork and list ways that the design elements and the principles are organized on the picture plane (Color, Line, Texture). Analysis

6. Interpretation Use the evidence found in the description & analysis stages to theorize the artist’s intent for creating this particular work of art. What ideas or moods does the art work make you have? Does this picture make you feel rested or full of energy?

8. That’s all……………… Use these four steps when you see paintings,drawings or sculptures. Think of the Subject,the Elements and the Principles and how they are arranged in the picture plane. Is the Composition a success? Write down your thoughts.Now, you are an Artist and an Art Critic! Have Fun!
