ISLAMIYAT 2 nd DIMENSION OF ISLAM
2
DEFINITION OF ISLAM ISLAM To submit yourself freely to the commandments of ALLAH. ALLAH is the creator of whole universe. PROPHET (S.A.W) is messenger of ALLAH. QURAN is authentic collection of revelations. MUSLIM is a male or female who believes in ALLAH and PROPHET (S.A.W.)
3
ARTICLES OF FAITH Belief in ALLAH Belief in Angels Belief in Messengers Belief in Last Day Belief in Revealed Books Belief in Destiny
4
BELIEF IN ALLAH
5
“He is God, the One. God, to Whom the creatures turn for their needs. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none like Him.” Quran 112:1-4
6
God is not Jesus, and Jesus is not God. Even Jesus himself rejected this. God has said in the Quran: “Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary.” The Messiah said, “Children of Israel worship God, my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates partners in worship with God, then God has forbidden Paradise for him, and his home is the Fire (Hell). For the wrongdoers, there will be no helpers.” (Quran, 5:72)
7
NATURE OF ANGELS: Created from light Don’t have their own desires Honored servants of ALLAH
8
The Duties of Angels: Angels have various duties, with each having a well defined role. The Qur’an says: " And there is not any among us, except that has a known position. And we are indeed the ones who glorify Allah." (Qur’an 37:164-166) Angels thus teach us the benefits of specialization. So, in the Islamic society, some members must specialize in the Qur’an and its sciences, others in medicine, still others in agriculture and so on and so forth, so that the Muslim community becomes efficient and well balanced.
9
Similarly, in the home, the responsibilities are divided. While the man is responsible primarily for supporting the family financially, the woman has an important role in the upbringing of the children, although she is by no means confined to only this task. Only Allah knows all the details and roles of all the angels : "...And none know the hosts of your Lord except He..." (Qur’an 74:31) Nevertheless, He has told us about some of these angels through the Qur’an and the Sunnah.
10
Jibreel - This is the most distinguished of the angels, and is entrusted with carrying revelation to the Prophets. This includes bringing the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad (saws), which is referred to in the following: "And it is surely the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. The trusted Spirit has brought it down to your heart, in order that you might be one of the warners, in clear Arabic speech." (Qur’an: 26:192-195)
11
Mikael - The one entrusted with the sustenance of creatures, and is also one of the most prominent angels. The Recorders - These are two angels who accompany every human being and record his deeds. One of them stays on the right side and he records only good deeds. The other stays on the left side and records only bad deeds.
12
The Guardians - They are angels who protect us from whatever evil Allah wills to save us from. "For each (person) there are angels in succession in front of him and behind him, who guard him by Allah’s command." (Qur’an 13:11)
13
The Angel of Death - He is entrusted with taking the souls of all creatures in the universe. "Say: the Angel of Death, who is set over you, will take your souls, then you shall be brought to your lord." (Qur’an: 32:11)
14
BELIEF IN REVEALED BOOKS In Arabic, the word for the books is Kutub, the plural of Kitab, meaning that which is written. Here books refers to those Books that Allah Almighty revealed to His Messengers. Belief in Allah's Books is one of the pillars of Iman. This means that we must believe with certainty that Allah has certain Books that He revealed to His Messengers. The Quran describes Torah as Furqan the discriminator between right and wrong.
15
In The Holly Quran Allah says that: “We gave Moses and Aaron the Discriminator, and gave them a light (Dhia) and a Reminder for the Books (21:48). ” Furqan means that ideological standard which enables man to distinguish between Truth and falsehood. Dhia means divine guidance, which leads a man out of the darkness of the wrong path and puts him in the light of the straight path.
16
The Divine Books Mentioned in the Quran: The Holly Quran, teachings given to Muslims; The Tawrat, the revelations made to Moses; The Zabur, the psalms given to David; The Injil, the teachings given to Jesus.
17
It is a belief of a Muslim that each of these divine books was originally a complete revelation. However, for a variety of reasons, most of these revealed books sent by God could not be preserved. The Quran mentions the scriptures given to Abraham as Sahifa, but these are no longer in existence and were lost completely. Others were changed in various ways by human intervention.
18
Thus these previous scriptures are no longer in their original form. They could best be described as edited versions of divine revelations, which have been altered from time to time by editors and commentators. The Quran, the last of the divine books, is the only revealed scripture which has been preserved from human speaking. The Quran has been preserved in its original state; therefore, it is an eternal guidebook which will never lose its relevance.
19
Proofs indicating that Belief in the revealed Books is Obligatory: In Quran, Allah almighty says that: Say, "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim, Ismail, Ishaq, Ya'qub, and to Al- Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya'qub], and that which has been given to Musa and ‘Iesa, and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam).” (Surah Al- Baqarah 2: 136)
20
Indeed Allah has ordered the believers to believe in Him and in what He has sent down to them through Prophet Muhammad ( S.A.W) - the Noble Qur'an. He also ordered them to believe in what was revealed to the Prophets from their Lord, without differentiating between anyone of them. Allah Almighty says: The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say, "We make no distinction between one and another of His Messengers" - and they say, "We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all)." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2: 285)
21
When Jibreel (A.S) asked the Prophet (S.A.W ) about faith, he ( S.A.W) said: To believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in Divine Preordainment - both the good and bad of it.
22
BELIEF IN MESSENGERS Messengers are human beings chosen by God who have the honor of conveying God's message to other men and women. It is a grace from Allah, but Allah grants this grace to those who are deserving of it. they are men but they are men of an extremely high moral, spiritual and intellectual standard that qualifies them--in the eyes of Allah--to be the bearers of His light to the world.
23
One must believe that Allah chose the finest amongst mankind to be Messengers whom He sent to His creation with specific legislations; to worship and obey Allah, and to establish His religion and His Tawheed. They are carriers of glad-tidings of the Pleasure of Allah and His Jannah, which is reserved for those who believe in them and their teachings. They are also sent as warners to their peoples, to warn them of the anger of Allah and His punishment which is reserved for those who disbelieve in them and their teachings.
24
" And We send not the Messengers but as givers of glad tidings and as warners. So whosoever believes and does righteous good deeds, upon such shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. * But those who reject Our Ayaat, the torment will touch them for their disbelief." (6:48-49) One must believe in all of them and that they were human; they were not supernatural beings. Allah says: "And We sent not before you (O Muhammad «peace be upon him») but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder (Scriptures) if you do not know. And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortal." (21:8)
25
There are many Prophets and Messengers; no one knows their exact number except Allah. Allah says: "And, indeed We have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad «peace be upon him»); of some of them We have related to you their story, and of some We have not related to you their story." (40:78) One must believe in all of them and that they were human; they were not supernatural beings. They do not have any attributes resembling Allah's. They can neither extend benefit, nor cause harm. They have no control over the universe.
26
Allah says: "Say (O Muhammad «peace be upon him»): ‘I possess no power of benefit or hurt to myself except as Allah wills. If I had the knowledge of the Unseen, I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me." (7:188) The first Messenger was Nooh («may God exalt their mention»). Allah says: "Verily, We have inspired you (O Muhammad «peace be upon him») as We inspired Nooh (Noah) and the Prophets after him.“ (4:163)
27
Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the last and final Messenger; no Messenger will come after him until the Final Day. Allah says: "Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last (end) of the Prophets.“ (33:40) The religion of Muhammad (peace be upon him) abrogated the religions which preceded it. It is the complete and final religion of truth which is obligatory to be followed, and it will continue to be so until the Final Hour.
28
The Merits of Belief in the Messengers: One would realize the mercy and love Allah has for His slaves; since He sent to them Messengers who conveyed to them His religion. They in themselves were examples whom people emulated. To distinguish the believers who are truthful in their Faith from others; for it is incumbent upon one who believes in his own Messenger to believe in other Messengers who are mentioned in his Book. Those of the people of the Book (Jews and Christians) who believe in their Messengers and then believe in Muhammad, may Allah exalt his mention, would receive double reward.
29
Their knowledge is limited; and can therefore tell only that part of the future which God reveals to them. They cannot intercede with God on behalf of any person except with His permission and it is not left to them to cause people to go in the right path. In short, they have no part to play in the running of the affairs of the universe. Many early Muslim scholars have observed that to emphasize the humanity of the Prophet the Qur'an called him 'servant of God' on the three occasions on which he was honored.
30
5 th Article of faith: The Day Of Judgment:
31
Qiyamah: ON A DAY UNKNOWN TO MAN but preordained by Allah, when people least expect it, Allah will give permission for the Qiyamah to begin.
32
In Quran: “The Hour” Day of account Day of judgment QIYAMAH Day of gathering Day of reckoning Day of distress Great announcemen t
33
Dajjal vs Mahdi: According to Sunnah, the Dajjal (the Deceiver), the Mahdi (the Guided One) and Prophet Jesus (Isa) will be on Earth the days preceding the Day of Judgment. The Dajjal will mislead people and the Mahdi will precede the coming of Jesus and will fight for Islam.
34
Beginning & ending: The event of the Last Day will begin by the blowing of Israfil's horn, and people will go through various stages before they meet the almighty Allah. There will be a gathering on a white, vast featureless ground, and be called on by Allah where the angels will recount the person's good and bad deeds. According to these, Allah will judge whether the person should go to Paradise or Hell to abide in forever in the afterlife. BEGINNING & ENDING:
35
DUA:
36
Only Allah Knows…..!!! The Qur'aan reminds us time and again that this universe has been created temporarily and at an appointed time it will surely be annihilated, "Everyone thereon will be annihilated and only the Countenance of your Mighty and Glorious Sustainer shall remain." The exact date and time of this event, termed as Qiyamah, is known to Allah Alone, "Verily Allah Alone has the knowledge of the Hour," (Qur'aan).
37
BELIEF IN DESTINY:
38
Definition: “Qadar” is an Arabic word for destiny and divine foreordainment. Allah has knowledge of everything in His creation. Nothing occurs except by His will. destiny is what Allah has decreed.
39
Belief in al-Qadar is based on four things: Al-'Alam – Knowledge: i.e., that Allah knows what His creation will do كتابة Kitabat – Writing: i.e., that Allah has written everything that exists including the destiny of all creatures in al-Lauh al-Mahfuz prior to creation Mashii'at – Will: i.e., that what Allah wills happens and what He does not will does not happen Al-Khalaq – Creation and formation: i.e., that Allah is the Creator of all things
40
Stages Of Taqdeer (Fate): There are five stages where Qadar is determined and prescribed/send to creation: Al-Lawh Al-Mahfouz Divine decree The Life-time decree The yearly decree The Daily Decree
41
And Allah Says….. : "Did you not know that Allah knows (all) what in heaven and earth? Verily, all put down in a record. Indeed, that is very easy of Allah." (Surah al-Hajj 22:70) And He said: "No disaster befalls earth but it is in a record before We created it. Indeed, it is easy of Allah." (Surah al-Hadeed 57:22)
