3 Restless Fulfilled  feeling nervous or bored and tending to move around a lot  not relaxed or calm  unhappy about a situation and wanting change  having little or no rest or sleep  to do what is required by (something, such as a promise or a contract)  to succeed in doing or providing (something)  to succeed in achieving (something) : to make (something, such as a dream) true or real

4 5 The L ORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the L ORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. Genesis 6:5-6 NLT

5 7 And the L ORD said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them. 8 But Noah found favor with the L ORD. Genesis 6:7-8 NLT

6  9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. 10 Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Genesis 6:9 NLT

7 11 Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. 12 God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. 13 So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth! Genesis 6:11-13 NLT

8  God spoke at a desperate time in the world  Noah was in a place to hear God!  Rabbit trail: Luke 4:1 Jesus was water baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit Luke 4:2 Jesus is led into the wilderness – 40 days tempted Luke 4:14 Jesus emerges victorious over every temptation – full of the Holy Spirit!!

9  Noah starts to build an ark  Do you think Noah ever wondered about how the animals would come?  Noah focused on what he could control, not what he couldn’t control

10  Marriage? Kids? Finances? Work?  Noah had to leave his work to build the ark – what this a cause of his restless or did it add to it?  Work is a big part of our life – let’s talk about it

11  How do we move from Restless to Fulfilled in the area of our work? 1. What is your passion? 2. What kind of work culture allows you to thrive? 3. At what level of challenge do you do your best work? 4. Do you have hope?

12  What is passion? a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something In a work setting, passion comes alive when we are operating in our strengths and we love the work we do

13  What if you have the right vocation, but your job culture is not healthy?  If the culture isn’t ideal, then you have to choose to be a culture builder

14 1. Under challenged 2. Up to the challenge 3. Dangerously over challenged Where should we be? Gal 5:15 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

15 Genesis 8:6-12 Noah releases a dove… brings back an olive leaf! Romans 15:4 “ 4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.”

16  Walk in close fellowship with God Example of Jesus – filled with the Holy Spirit before, during and after temptation  When God speaks, listen and obey! Focus on what you have control over  What effect is your work having on you? Passion, Culture, Challenge
