 Slope-Intercept Form:  y = mx + b  where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.  How do you know you have b? Either you will see b = ??, or you will be given the ordered pair (0, ??) because the value of x at any y-intercept is 0. How do you find the slope? Either it will be given to you (m = ??), or you can use slope formula: m = when given two ordered pairs. Aim #1.4: How do we write linear equations?

a)m = 3, b = -4 b) m = 2/3, b = 7 c) m = 4, (0, -2) d) Passing through (-3, 6 ) and (0, 2) Write the linear equation.

 You can turn any point-slope form into slope- intercept form by solving, to get y by itself!  Formula is: where m,, and are the variables being replaced with your information.  You may need to use slope formula to find the slope value. Then, you may choose either ordered pair (if given two) to plug into the formula. Part 2: How do we write linear equations in point-slope form?

a)m = -3, (3, -1) b) (-1, 3), (2, 9) c) (4, -1), (6, -7) Part 2: How do we write linear equations in point-slope form?

 What is the slope of a line and how is it found?  Describe how to write the equation of a line if two points along the line are given. Summary: Answer in complete sentences.

Extension: Use the figure on the right to answer the following:  List the slopes in decreasing order.  List the y-intercepts in decreasing order.
