6 FUNDRAISING SIDE EVENTS BAKER’S BEST It’s a classic! Gather some friends and bake some tasty treats. Work in a large office building or have a kid’s sporting game coming up? Sell them there. You can set the price or just ask for donations for St. Jude. SOME ST. JUDE SPIRIT! Most families go out to eat at least once a week. Why not make it a spirit night for St. Jude? Many businesses will offer 10-20% of their sales for the day to a charity. Ask a restaurant you frequent about their program. TIP: The more people you give the flyer to, the more money you earn. Share it at your child’s school, local fire station, church, workplace, etc... AT YOUR SERVICE These days, everyone is busy and friends and neighbors often need help with their pet care needs and their household duties. Offer to walk dogs or mow a neighbor’s lawns for a donation. WASHING IN THE WINNINGS Ask a local business on a busy road to use their parking lot for a car wash. A great way to guarantee customers (and fundraising dollars) is to pre-sell tickets prior to the event at work, church, to friends, neighbors, etc... SHARE YOUR SKILL Got a special skill? Are you handy or crafty? Offer up your talent to friends, families, co- workers and neighbors to earn money for St. Jude. GOT STUFF? Who’s got stuff to sell? Gather up some old treasures you’ve been meaning to discard and schedule a garage sale. Want to earn more? Ask your entire neighborhood to join in and donate a portion of what they make. CHILI COOK-OFF Do you work in a large building or have a wide network of friends and family? Host a Chili Cook-off by recruiting some fabulous cooks and then asking people for an entry fee to an all you can eat Chili Cook-off. Celebrate the day with a contest and prize for the best chili. STUFF THE OFFICE/ BEDROOM Whether it’s flamingos, sports gear, or balloons. People can pay to stuff a person’s office with items, pay to be spared and pay to have items removed. It’s a win win and so much fun!

7 FUNDRAISING SIDE EVENTS COORDINATE A COMPANY/BUILDING WIDE RAFFLE for prizes you know will motivate your employees: a special parking space, an extra day off, the opportunity to dress casually for a month, or big ticket items, such as a TV, IPAD. ORGANIZE A JEANS/SPORTS FAN GEAR DAY. Employees can pay by the item ($5 gym shoes, $5 jeans, $10 for team spirit wear). OFFER A MEAL WITH AN EXECUTIVE or partner as a prize for the top fundraisers. What a great way to motivate employees and give your leadership an opportunity to recognize their employees for their participation and support. HOST A CORPORATE CLOSET BLOW OUT and ‘sell’ the corporate premiums that are piling up in a closet for donations to St. Jude. PLAN A SHAVE-A-THON. Recruit an employee or beloved executive to agree to shave his/ her head if the team reaches their fundraising goal. START A PENNY WAR BETWEEN DEPARTMENTS. Create competition between teams or departments with natural rivalry by setting out canning jars and encouraging teams to make their donations in pennies for positive points and silver coins or dollars for negative points. The team with the most points wins! CHECK INTO COMPANY MATCHING GIFTS. Does your company match donations? This is a great way to double your money. Encourage your team members to submit the proper paperwork for the company to match their gifts. HOST A COMPANY SPONSORED COCKTAIL PARTY OR OTHER EVENT where you can charge admission and accept donations at the door for St. Jude. ORGANIZE A BREAKFAST OR BAKE SALE with store-bought or homemade items. You can set the price or just ask for donations for St. Jude. SELL THANK YOU GRAMS. Take orders for Bosses’ or Executive Assistant’s Day, Valentine’s Day or any day to thank your coworkers and deliver bags of candy or treats.
