18 One possible version  Last night, our school held a singing competition in the school meeting hall in memory of December 9th Movement.Hundreds of students from grade one took part in it.They were both prformers and audience. Each class was supposed to sing two songs---the school song and a song chosen by the class themselves.  The competition began at 6:30.The first to go on stage was Class 12.When they got on the stage the hall became deadly silent. As soon as the music rose, the audience started clapping and cheering.Students, especially the boy conductor, from class 12 were deeply imprerssed on the audience.Every class had their style of singing and they all performed wonderfully.

19  Some classes combined singing with dancing and some even lighted candles to express love and good wishes.  My class was the eighth/thirteenth to perform. We sang the school song and the Twinkling Red Star. When it was our turn to go on stage,I was not only excited but also very nervuos. In spite of that, I tried my best to sing and lost myself in the singing.  When the 14 classes took turns to perform on stage, the audience below were very excited.they clapped heatedly to encourage the schoolmates, and some sang to the rhythm of the music.Though the sound effects and the lighting were disappointing

20  they could still enjoy the performances.  The competition lasted about three hours and it ended with the songs sung by Class 7.they even had two little girls dance on stage as angels. How wonderful it was! In the competition class 3 got the first prize and our class was awarded the third prize. At the end of the activity the headmaster made a short speech. He spoke highly of the work done by students, and taught us how to appreciate a concert.I learned a lot from what he said.At about 9:30 we left the hall feeling excited.I think I will feel proud of ourselves and our grade forever!
