1 Focus 8-26 O Turn to page 6 in your daybook. O Title it: Focus 8/26 O Write about middle school life. What are your biggest challenges? Fears/concerns? What are the best parts of being in middle school? **Be sure to add this to your Table of Contents**

2 Who hates speaking in front of the class? O Why do you hate it? O Why does it make you uncomfortable?

3 YES CIRCLE! YES!!!

4 Stand in a circle O One person will begin by pointing at another person. O That person must say “Yes”. O Then, the pointer must walk to the person they pointed at. O The one who said “yes”, now becomes the pointer and has to move before the original person gets to them.

5 Free write on page 7 O Title it: YES Circle Free write Write a few (4+) sentences about what challenges you saw in this exercise? What would you suggest to make it flow smoother? What worked well for us?

6 Drawing Partners O One partner will face the front. The other will face the back wall. O An image will appear on the front screen. The person that can see it will have to describe to their partner how to draw it. O The drawer must NOT turn around. O The Front partner may turn to help their partner, but cannot point or touch the drawing.

11 Free Write beneath your Yes Circle Free Write (pg. 7) O Table of Contents should say: Yes Circle/Drawing Partner Free Write Write about what worked well this time? What struggles did you face? Why do you think that happened? What suggestions would you give for next time?

12 We are a classroom of “Yes” O This means that we are constantly building each other up. O No negativity. O No tearing each other down. O No laughing.

13 We want to encourage each other. O Why? O How can we help each other feel more comfortable?

14 Responses O When we have discussions, what are some responses that are of the “YES” mentality? O What are some good ways to say that you agree with someone, while adding to the discussion? O What about disagreeing?
